Make the most of windows 01/18/2011
Ever have something that frustrated you tremendously? I have a friend that absolutely cannot stand to clean windows, while this person doesn’t mind the other usual tasks associated with house cleaning they really can’t stand to clean windows. I was surprised by this—personally I have more of an issue with cleaning the small nooks and crannies of a bathroom than I do with windows. Window cleaning seems to me to be very rewarding—unlike other home cleaning chores I get almost instant gratification from my effort. Where just a few moments ago were streaks and smudges I know have a gleaming piece of glass. I do remember struggling at first until I found the right tools for the job. For your window cleaning project I recommend a stack of microfiber towel and a bottle of windex (don’t use windex you got at the dollar store) a major retailers store brand or if you can afford it the official Windex brand will work. Once you’ve got your gear start by covering the window with a light coating of windex utilizing the spray bottle’s spray setting. Next use one of your towels to wipe down the window paying special attention to any areas that require a little more elbow grease. Next pickup a fresh towel and dry your window—this will take care of any streaks left behind by your previous towel. Since the towel you use directly after applying the windex will naturally get damp—continue using that towel exclusively for that first wipe down and reserving your “drying” towel for the drying. And best of all don't forget to tap local talent in your area. For example looking up San Diego house cleaning turns up a plethora of expert window and home cleaning professionals. Never underestimate the power of a professional! |
